ACCESS Donations

ACCESS would like to thank everyone who has provided clothing donations to our organization. The recent outpouring of public generosity has been truly inspiring. However, due to record donations, we are currently overwhelmed and unable to accept further clothing donations. We are still accepting non-clothing donations as outlined above. We respectfully request that clothing items be taken to the Salvation Army, Goodwill, or other charitable organization. We thank you for your support and hope that you will think of us again in the future.

======================

Our cell phone fundraiser program is sponsored by Shelter Alliance (www.shelteralliance.net), a program of cell phone recycling company GRC Wireless Recycling (www.grcrecycling.com). Through Shelter Alliance, nonprofit organizations raise funds through the collection & recycling of used cell phones, and businesses & consumers donate & recycle cell phones to benefit nonprofit participants.  Cell phones can be donated to ACCESS at the First Baptist Church located at 200 Lynn Ave. in Ames.

If You Know Someone Who Has Been Abused

  • Believe them.

  • Listen -- without judging.

  • Let them know that you support and care about them, that they are not responsible for the violence.

  • Let them know that it is likely that in spite of promises, the violence will continue and probably escalate.

  • Emphasize that when they are ready, they can make a choice to leave the relationship and that there is help available.

  • Let them know they are not alone.

  • Let them know about ACCESS services.

  • Tell them about our crisis number answered 24-hours a day.
