Volunteer


At ACCESS volunteers are a vital part of the services we provide to individuals and families. There are several opportunities available including coordinating food and supply drives, organizing donations, or becoming a trained domestic violence and sexual assault volunteer advocate.

 

Volunteer Positions

  • Crisis Line/Shelter Advocacy Volunteers*
    Provide counseling, advocacy, and referral to survivors of domestic and sexual violence over the 24-hour crisis line. Be available to all clients in the shelter for active listening and crisis intervention. Assist with preparing rooms and gathering supplies for clients who move into the shelter. Complete documentation of all interactions with clients and assist with additional duties at the shelter as needed.
  • Youth and Family Program Volunteers*
    Assist Youth and Family Coordinator with children's groups, childcare and individual appointments.
  • Interns*
    Work with a fulltime advocate to gain professional experience and training in the human service field. Hours can be applied toward class credit.
  • In-Direct Service Volunteers
    Assist with administrative duties, shelter maintenance, outdoor work, food/supply drives, and organizing donations.

*This position is a direct service position that requires completion of the 32-hour advocate training.
